About “Serenade”

This is a Piano/Soul/Orchestral love song in which a passionate lover describes the beloved. The two seem not to be together but are having a secret desire towards each other. At the end of the song, it turns out that this secret love is in fact a forbidden love, while there is an order by an authority (referred to as the ‘Establishment’ in the song) to end this “forbidden love”. Whether to end the ‘love’ or its ‘forbiddance’ is yet a mystery.

Although it is sung by a female, the lyric is gender-neutral allowing the lover to be a man as well. The lyric has a hidden layer (interpretation) in the pre-chorus section where the two get together (referred to as a Duo) and end the solo time followed by an analogy about a pearl in a shell that is to be protected and kept as a secret. SINASOUND prefers not to reveal the true meaning behind this section and its source of inspiration at this stage (yet). Let it be a challenge for the listener to unlock.

In music, a “serenade” is a musical composition or performance delivered in honour of someone or something and is typically calm, slow and light pieces of music. The term comes from the Italian word “serenata”, which itself derives from the Latin “serenus” influenced by Italian sera “evening”, from Latin sera, fem. of serus “late”. This is becuase the classic usage of serenade was a lover performing a love song below the window of the beloved in a late evening.

— Intro (Piano Solo) —

— Theme (Cello) —

— Verse 1 —

Another light of my soul
Another night you're here and make me whole

Another dream I fall in
No other scene with a wall between

No place I've been
No face I've seen
No other one has had
The love you mean

— Chorus 1 —

Every night I dream of you
Fly to fall in love with you
Every sign, all things I do
Try to say I'm all about you

Every night I dream of you
Fly to fall in love with you
Every sign, all things I do
Try to say I'm all about you

— Theme (Cello) —

— Verse 2 —

Another rain for my rose
No other name but yours
On my lips when the door unclosed

Another prime poem you're in
No other rhyme or ring
But your songful eyes to sing

— Pre-Chorus —

A duo
Once a solo
Sometimes it's hard
Sometimes it's slow

Light touches a pearl
Gently in the shell
A shell to shield
A known not to share

— Chorus 2 —

Every night I dream of you
Fly to fall in love with you
Every sign, all things I do
Try to say I'm all about you

Every night I dream of you
Fly to fall in love with you
Every sign, all things I do
Try to say I'm all about you

— Bridge —

(No)
(Don't go)
(By the order of the establishment, this forbidden love must come to an end)

— Chorus 3 —

(Dream of you)
(Love with you)
(All things I do)
(I'm all about you)

— Outro (Piano Solo) —
